![]() Im currently considering a system where the magma is constantly flowing and the cart slowly runs under the flow.ĮDIT: Finished some more !!SCIENCE!! The rollers aren't enough to push the cart up the ramp out of the magma, looks like the top filling route is going to be required. The third has the most merit so far (fills the cart 100% of the time) My original designs had the cart stop under the magma flow and need a push, but magma tends to spill all over the place from the pump while a dwarf runs over to push the cart resulting in !!FUN!!. Im going to try again having dwarves guide it into the rollers and see how that works. The 2nd method Ive been having mixed sucesses with due to the fact that the inital push tends to vary so much from dwarf to dwarf. So far, it's going a lot faster than a traditional stack pump method, and is eating up a lot less power.įirst method fails due to friction 100% of the time, the cart stops in the first square underwater/magma so your going to need a roller at every submerged square. I have tracks going from my main stone stockpile to my main mason's shop for this reason.Īlso, I'm working on a project to use minecarts to transport magma up to the smelters. You can also use minecarts to automatically assign stuff to quantum stockpiles, which is convenient if you want a workshop to only use one type of material. ![]() Saves a lot of transit time, and the track makes a convenient way for the dorfs to get down after the digging is done (spiral ramps around a stairway, for track safety reasons) When I start any big digging project (bedroom complexes, underground megaprojects, etc) I'll sink a minetrack down first, and setup a stone stockpile in the corner. When the cart's full, it zips on over, and the stockpile grows. They just have to walk to the nearest mini-stockpile in the farm itself, and then place the wood in its associated cart. When my dorfs go to harvest the towercaps, they don't have to walk all the way back to the wood stockpile. The minecarts go under the towercap farm, under the rest of the fort, and then back up into the wood stockpile. Scattered throughout it at several strategic points are small (2x2 or so) wood stockpiles, each linked to their own minecart stop. I use them to speed up the process of gathering resources from different sections of the fort.
